Soul tone – Theism – Seeking revelation in creation
In which the historical foundations of philosophy and science are introduced. The title is from Aristotle’s book, On Generation and Corruption, in which he considers genesis, or the holistic process of change, including coming to be and passing away. I was thinking of the coming to be and passing away of the holistic concept of reality consisting of a unity of both matter (physical parts) and forms (ideal wholes), replaced by a mechanical concept of atoms and void.
The journey in Part I starts with a search for Plato’s mysterious philosopher – I believe The Philosopher possesses a key to understanding the nature of substance – that which Aristotle named ousia. This epic journey of discovery and loss – according to (my very basic understanding of) Rudolf Steiner – required this knowledge to be lost in order that it might be renewed by Goethe and Steiner in Part III.
Lions are important symbols… Chemically the lion is any fixed substance obtained from the metals… Philosophically, the Green Lion is the raw forces of nature or the subconscious that we are seeking to tame.
Hauck (2008)
A green lion marks the starting point of life’s transformations.
